Confidentiality Policy

Your privacy is a core part of therapy. Information shared in sessions is kept confidential in accordance with professional ethics and the laws of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. Exceptions to confidentiality include:

  • Risk of harm to yourself or others

  • Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult

  • A valid court order requiring disclosure

Whenever possible, I will discuss the situation with you before sharing information.

Privacy

Please note that email and text messaging are not fully secure forms of communication; sensitive matters are best addressed during sessions or through the secure client portal. By using non-secure methods of communication, you accept the associated risks.

Telehealth

Therapy is offered via doxy.me, a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. By engaging in virtual sessions, you acknowledge that technical issues may occasionally occur, and you agree to participate from a private location where your confidentiality can be maintained. I comply with all telehealth regulations in the state where you reside (NY, NJ, CT, or FL).

Court & Legal Matters

My role is to provide mental health treatment. I do not provide forensic evaluations, legal opinions, or testimony in court. If you anticipate needing documentation or testimony for legal proceedings (such as custody disputes or lawsuits), I recommend working with a provider who specializes in forensic services.

Appointments, Cancellations & No-Shows

Therapy sessions are scheduled by appointment. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may be charged at the full session fee and are not typically billable to insurance.

Compliance with State Laws

I comply with the regulations and licensing requirements of the states where I am authorized to practice: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. Services are provided only to clients located in one of these states at the time of the session.
